About me:

Being a coach honors who I am at my core. I’ve always been curious about people and interested in personal growth - such as how people find fulfillment, or overcome their fears.
I’m a certified professional co-active coach (CPCC, ACC), as recognized by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Pursuing my credential with the Co-Active Training Institute deepened my growth as both a coach and as an individual.
 
My work as a coach builds on my experience as a consultant, helping organizations and individuals become more effective in achieving their mission and goals. As the co-author of the book, The Brand IDEA: Managing Nonprofit Brands with Integrity, Democracy, and Affinity, I’ve seen the value in clarifying the essence of an organization - understanding who you are, what you do and why it’s important.

We don’t always notice when we’ve hidden ourselves When we’ve dimmed our own spark, put our dreams on some shelves. Our eyes can adjust to low levels of light, But what might emerge if we start shining bright?
What are the ways in which you hide part of yourself? Maybe it’s a passion that you have that you don’t share with others, or a dream that you keep putting off, or a way of playing it safe in life.
It can be scary to put ourselves out there, to show up in an authentic way, to let our light shine.
As a coach, I help people get clear on what’s most important. Sometimes, that means giving voice to those parts of ourselves that we haven’t let others see.
Once we articulate our values and dreams, then we can take action. Don’t wait until you feel ready. Tune into that desire to make some changes in your life and take the first step. Each step builds the confidence to keep going.
What might emerge for you if you take the first step?
 
When to-dos are not all done because, well, life got in the way, Just pause and think of one small thing to celebrate today.
On those days when our to-do list looks about the same at the beginning and the end of the day, we often feel badly. We tend to forget or dismiss the things that ended up taking our time - a phone call with a friend, time spent organizing, working on an unplanned but important task, responding to a request. But when we take a moment to reflect, there’s always something to celebrate - the way we made someone feel heard, cleared off a countertop, dealt with an issue, cared for a pet or loved one.
What can you celebrate today? Celebrating small successes helps us rewire our brain to quiet the self-critical voice in our head and recognize our strengths.
 
There is no lion or hyena, Go on and enter the arena!
I’ve been thinking of Brené Brown and her favorite quote by Theodore Roosevelt about the man in the arena. “It’s not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena…who strives valiantly; who errs…who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.”
Getting out of our comfort zone is scary, but that’s where there is magic and growth. What arena are you waiting to step into? What if the lions and hyenas that you imagine aren’t real? What might you do next?
